Jean-Baptiste Laget, DPLG Architect, offers you almost 30 years of professional experience during which numerous studies and projects in new construction, extensions, rehabilitation or renovation have been carried out.

His areas of expertise are diverse: individual houses, small and medium-sized collectives (from 6 to 50 dwellings), areas of tourism, leisure, education and training, tertiary buildings, agri-food, feasibility studies, town planning, etc.

Based in Montpellier, the offices are part of a collective of building professionals accustomed to working together - notably BET Thermal and Fluids, RE 2020, Cuisiniste, etc. - thus bringing together under one roof various skills serving the quality of the architectural project.

The experience of the workshop makes it possible to aim for a real objective of environmental quality of the project (certified architect passive house designer, MBOC training in wooden frame building, initial HQE High Environmental Quality training, etc.).

The various buildings and/or operations carried out by the JBL Archi Architecture workshop correspond to a cost of work ranging between €100,000 excluding tax and €6 million excluding tax. Some studies (urban planning) project operations in the medium or long term estimated at more than €100 million excluding tax.

However, for the workshop, there is no “small project” because each achievement, from the most modest to the most ambitious, deserves the same attention.

The workshop's activity is primarily based in the greater Montpellier region. However, studies and projects are or have been carried out in other geographical areas such as Paris, Dordogne, Var, Belgium (City of Liège), etc.

The architect's first step is to understand as closely as possible the needs and wishes of the client or project owner. This preliminary approach makes it possible to establish a program which, even simple and refined, must define the fundamental expectations of the project in functional, quantitative and qualitative terms. This initial stage is crucial because it determines the correct direction of the project from the design phase.

The workshop can offer, depending on your needs, pre-studies in advance. This approach allows you to control the feasibility of the project (regulatory, urban planning, technical, financial aspects, etc.). It also makes it possible to limit the first contractual commitment to a preliminary stage, while giving time to evaluate both the architect's approach but also the quality of the professional and human exchange between Project Manager (you) and Project Manager (architect and, if necessary, design offices).

From experience, this quality of exchange constitutes one of the foundations of the smooth running of an operation. This is why it is considered here as the founder of the quality of the architectural project.

Between client and service provider, the relationship is no less human. In other words, taking the time to get to know each other, to evaluate “working well together”, therefore also represents an important aspect of the process.

Ultimately, the objective of the workshop is an architecture “on a human scale”. The implementation of this ambition involves as much through the excellence of the finished work and the well-being of its future users, as through the quality of the human collaboration that guided everyone throughout the production process.
