An architect for nearly 20 years, Sylvain Parent has extensive experience that has been frequently recognised by prestigious awards, including AJAP2012, the Réinventer Paris award, and having work exhibited at the Venice Biennale. 

The designer of a number of autonomous houses, a luxury hotel meeting Passive standards, and vat rooms for natural wines, Sylvain Parent has worked since the beginning of his career to design environmentally-friendly buildings that are simple, low-tech and as autonomous as possible. This commitment is underlaid by his conviction of a political necessity: the building sector is energy intensive and produces high CO2 emissions and waste, creating a responsibility for architects to come up with architecture that is more respectful of the planet. Sustainable design also allows the creation of inviting, comfortable and endlessly beneficial spaces for those who use them. This aspiration to design architecture in tune with body and mind, architecture that makes sense and adapts not only to today’s world but that of tomorrow, is at the heart of Sylvain Parent’s work. 

Sylvain Parent is equally at ease with small projects as with the most ambitious, from single-family homes to large hotels, to residential developments and participatory housing, commercial buildings and public access spaces, from restoration to new builds. In complement to his training as an architect, he has additionally studied questions of government strategies at Sciences Po. Even for the smallest projects, a good understanding between the various parties involved (clients, designers, financial backers, government officials, users, neighbouring residents, etc.) is a decisive factor in the quality of the project. These people skills are applied to each project the architect handles, not only to ensure that the client and those who use the building are completely happy but also that those who live nearby accept it as well.
